How to supercharge your affirmations

Research shows us that simply saying an affirmation doesn't work no matter how many times you repeat it.
You see the real goal of affirmations is to change the way you feel and believe about something. So, in order to do that, you need to be feeling the correct emotion as you say it. That way you have a better chance of installing the new belief.
β Step 1 - Positive emotion.
The number one mistake that most people make while affirming is that they make it a mind-only process without connecting their hearts. Affirmations only work when the mind and heart join forces in the process.
βπ» For example, if recent circumstances are making you feel very sad, you need to switch the feeling in your body from one of sadness towards one of joy by visualising a particularly joyful time or event you have experienced before you use an affirmation such as "I am joyful", otherwise the way you think and feel are not coherent rendering the affirmation powerless.
Practise this regularly and each time, see if you can really feel that positive emotion of joy, trust, contentment etc. Then as soon as you are feeling it, that is when you say the affirmation.
β Step 2 - Be in your body.
The second most common problem that people report is that their minds are too busy so they find it difficult to allow the intention of the affirmation to sink in. If this is true for you, take time to get into your body. Doing anything physical, particularly if it is something you enjoy will supercharge the affirmation you wish to install.
βπ» Exercise or a grounding meditation will shift your attention from racing thoughts and help you to feel grounded and present. If you do this, then implement step 1 before you say your affirmations will seep into every cell of your body!
β Step 3 - Eliminate negative self-talk.
And finally, the third mistake people make is through negative self-talk in between their affirmations.
βπ» For example if you are trying to change your belief that you are stupid to a more helpful one such as 'I am getting smarter each day' it's important to observe your thoughts throughout the day and eliminate any negative self-talk you notice you have around this topic.
A smart way to reduce destructive self-talk is to stop it dead immediately by saying "I am not that" and watching it float off your head or dissolve as if you are observing it from a distance.
Being consistently vigilant and acting immediately in the early stages is the key to success!
